Section 41, 7 km
The section starts with views over Lake Mellsjön and the sea. The trail continues in hilly mixed forest and then along fields in a rural and peaceful landscape. When you reach the nature reserve, the Sörmlandsleden trail branches off into four short separate circular walks. Koppartorp is a historic mining community with an original wooden church and well-preserved mining buildings, and the best public toilet along the Sörmlandsleden trail. We recommend a detour to the top of Mount Simonberget (not named on map). The nature reserve (42 hectares) is dominated by pine, spruce, oak and other deciduous trees. Eagle-owls nest on the adjacent rock Kummelberget, which is a bird protection area from 1 February to 15 August.
Section start: Where the Sörmlandsleden trail passes a private road, to the west of Mörkstugan.
